Research Associate
(Engineering and Laboratory Research)

(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment.)

WORK LOCATION: Audubon Sugar Institute, Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, St. Gabriel, Louisiana. Audubon Sugar Institute has been a part of the Louisiana State University System for over 75 years. It is unique in offering a mix of research, extension, education and training in all aspects of sugar processing.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will be part of a team involved in state and grant funded projects concerning sugar processing, bio-based chemical and biofuel processing. In particular, the hire will be responsible for the operation of electrodialysis equipment, ion exchange equipment, adsorption equipment, field sampling and other tasks in the laboratory and on pilot equipment aiding Dr. Ehrenhauser. The position involves both laboratory and field work with active interaction with Louisiana’s sugar mills. It requires the ability to work outdoors and lift occasionally more than 40 lbs. This position is officially domiciled at the Audubon Sugar Institute in St. Gabriel, and the applicant must have reliable means of transportation to and from the Audubon Sugar Institute.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: B.S. degree in Chemistry (analytical/technical/process), Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering or a related field is required. A background in the fields of sugar processing, electrodialysis, ion exchange and basic analytical laboratory knowledge is a plus but not required.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
