The primary responsibility of the Educator is to identify and form working partnerships with relevant farmers, local organizations, agencies, and institutions to deliver research-based agricultural educational programs, events and activities to program participants and other members of the agricultural community within the assigned area. The individual will work with producers, schools, and agricultural-related associations to explore strategies for improving production and profitability of their farming operations.

Essential Job Functions
- Work closely with producers, agri-business, community leaders, Extension Leadership Councils and appropriate agents and specialists to identify and prioritize issues, problems, and opportunities.
- Use farm and business visits to remain knowledgeable of specific local needs and problems related to agricultural production, marketing, and environmental protection.
- Assist state coordinator in establishing farm trials that address state and local needs at off campus centers and model farms.
- Maintain a high level of proficiency in the subject matter field by participating in in-service training and professional activities.
- Develop and implement evaluation plans, report impacts, outcomes, and results of programs to clientele, public, and administration.
- Collaborate with other staff for planning, implementing, and evaluating programs.
- Assist with the collection of data, evaluation, and reports.
- Assist with grant writing, budgeting, and provide input in the development of educational programs.
- Provide communication and seek additional contacts with stakeholders.
- Prepare extension outreach materials like fact sheets, brochures for disseminating information to the limited resources farmers.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Qualifications
- M. S. in Plant Science/ Horticulture/Agronomy, or a closely related field
- 1 year experience in Sustainable Agriculture practices.
- 1 Yr. Experience in outreach and extension activities.
- 1 year experience in applied field research.
