WORK LOCATION: Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position is a 12-month tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness with joint appointments in the LSU College of Agriculture and the LSU Agricultural Center. The position appointment is anticipated to be approximately 40% extension, 40% research, and 20% teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized program of research, extension and teaching in the area of agricultural commodity, food, natural resource and international trade policy which will include the analysis of national agricultural policy issues, including farm bill commodity policy, and the evaluation of its impacts and implications on agricultural production operations in the state, region and nation. Dissemination of research results through publication in refereed journals and presentation at professional meetings is expected. The successful candidate will also be expected to be effective in communication of agricultural policy impacts to relevant state, regional and national clientele groups. The successful candidate will also be expected to work directly with state agricultural organizations and commodity groups in evaluating specific agricultural policy issues as they arise and provide analysis to these groups regarding specific policy impacts and implications. Successful acquisition of extramural grant funds to support the research and extension program of this position is expected. Teaching responsibilities will include teaching one to two courses per year at the undergraduate and/or graduate level in related areas such as agricultural production, agricultural and food policy and welfare economics, as well as advising undergraduate and graduate students.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A Ph.D. in agricultural economics or closely related field is required. The individual should currently hold the rank of full professor or demonstrate a record of achievement warranting appointment to the rank of professor in the LSU A&M system. The successful candidate must also have a nationally recognized record of scholarly achievement in teaching, research and extension, which qualifies the candidate for the rank of Professor in the LSU System. The candidate should also have demonstrated expertise in the following areas: (a.) the ability to conduct applied research and have research published in refereed journals, (b.) the ability to effectively communicate research results to clientele decision makers, (c.) demonstrated excellence in teaching, (d.) successful supervision of graduate students and (e.) successful history of obtaining extramural funding to support research and/or extension programs.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
