The successful candidate will divide their time between teaching and research activities as related to agricultural systems management, playing a significant role in the newly formed Department of Soil and Water Systems. The appointee will teach courses that contribute to educating students in our largest departmental undergraduate major (Agricultural Systems Management) and contribute expertise to a new degree program in precision agriculture. Teaching responsibilities include introductory and upper level courses, some with laboratory sections. In addition to teaching, the appointee will develop a regionally, nationally, and internationally recognized research program related to improving adoption of on-farm technology. The appointee will lead applied research and outreach activities related to precision agriculture hardware/software, and work with research faculty in the development and application of online decision support tools. The appointee must be interested in working with growers, agricultural industries, and other researchers to develop new and improved technologies and management tools into on-farm applications and have the capability of obtaining competitive awards to fund this work.
Earned Ph.D. at the time of hire in agricultural engineering, soil science, agronomy, or a closely related field.
Ability to teach undergraduate courses in agricultural systems management, including laboratory sections involving hands-on practice.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in interdisciplinary teams that include researchers and extension personnel.
Record of competitive grant success commensurate with career level.
Record of research activities in the area of agricultural systems management commensurate with career level.
Demonstrated experience in student mentoring and teaching commensurate with career level.
Demonstrated record of publishing peer-reviewed documents commensurate with career level.
