WORK LOCATION: Scott Research, Extension and Education Center, Winnsboro, LA. and/or Department of Plant Pathology and Crop Physiology, LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for visiting and sampling multiple field research trial locations in the southern United States. The successful candidate will be required to analyze, present, and publish data related to soybean variety evaluations. Additionally, determination of pathogen communities in multiple field trial locations in the southern United States using molecular techniques will be required. Discovery of epidemiological factors involved in foliar diseases of soybean may result from project investigations. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute ideas and other creativity to projects.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The position requires a Ph.D. in plant pathology. Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability in laboratory and field research is required. Familiarity with foliar diseases of soybean in the southern United States is preferred. The candidate should be able to work independently as well as in a team-based collaborative environment. Experience in and knowledge related to soybean variety development is desired. Willingness and ability to travel also is required.
