POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Work Location: Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, LA, will be the work location. Extension faculty working within the organization, development and evaluation area provide leadership for extension programming and work directly with extension agents and specialists to provide training, educational materials, and assistance for extension program development and evaluation.

Position Description: The LSU AgCenter is seeking a dynamic and experienced Program Development and Evaluation Specialist to join our extension team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting agents and specialists by providing training, guidance, and resources in the development of programs that address existing needs within the communities we serve. This position will provide regular assistance to state regional and parish faculty to evaluate the impact of extension programs, including but not limited to 4-H youth development, Nutrition and Community Health, and agricultural and natural resources disciplines, as well developing training strategies and resource materials to ensure proper evaluation of extension program impact.    This position requires a thorough understanding of AgCenter programming, evaluation processes, Cooperative Extension principles, a passion for community development and engagement, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.  The successful candidate will be expected to provide technical guidance for the extension leadership team and various unit heads regarding professional development and extension program evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development Training: Provide training sessions, workshops, and resources to enhance the skills of agents and specialists in designing effective programs. Offer guidance on needs assessment, stakeholder engagement, program planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Resource Development: Curate and develop resources, including educational materials, templates, and best practice guides, to support program development efforts. Ensure resources are accessible, relevant, and evidence based.

Collaboration and Support: Collaborate closely with agents and specialists to assist them in program development initiatives. Offer ongoing support and mentorship to ensure the successful execution of programs.

Program Evaluation: Collaborate with other specialists to develop evaluation metrics and methodologies to assess the impact and effectiveness of developed programs.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of program development and evaluation activities. Assist other specialists with developing regular reports detailing the progress, outcomes, and impact of programs developed by agents and specialists.

Qualification Requirements: M.S. required, PhD preferred by start date, in Extension Education, Agricultural Education, or other discipline related to the duties of the position. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience required.

  • Experience in developing programs and conducting extension evaluations is highly desirable.

  • Desire land grant experience, experience with program evaluation, and demonstrated experience with data collection and management.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
