    [b]Summary:[/b]

    Utah Valley University invites qualified candidates to apply for a tenure-track position in Ecology/Invertebrate Zoology within the Department of Biology. This position will begin August 2018. Candidates must have a Doctorate in Ecology, Invertebrate Zoology or a related biological discipline. Excellent teaching skills with a strong commitment to effective teaching are essential. Responsibilities include: develop and teach General Ecology (BIOL 3700), Invertebrate Zoology (ZOOL 3200), and introductory biology courses for majors (BIOL 1610/1620) and non-majors (BIOL 1010) as needed. Develop additional courses in the area of expertise to meet department needs. Develop and supervise a research program in the field of expertise that involves undergraduate student participation and results in peer-reviewed publication and presentations at professional conferences. Serve on department, college, and university committees as needed.

    [b]Required Qualifications:[/b]

    Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctorate in ecology/invertebrate zoology related areas. Teaching experience in the biological sciences at the college level.

    [*] ABD applications will be considered, although an offer is contingent on doctorate verification received by June 30, 2018. [/list]

    [b]Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:[/b]

    [*] Demonstrable knowledge of the theory and practice of biology education, and research methods in the fields of Ecology and Invertebrate Zoology.
    [*] Demonstrable skill in techniques and approaches for teaching in large and small classrooms, laboratories and field settings.
    [*] Demonstrable abilities to develop curricula and teach courses, communicate in written and verbal form, work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students.
    [*] Demonstrable ability and desire to mentor undergraduate student research. [/list]

    [b]Preferred Qualifications:[/b]

    Teaching or research experience beyond a doctorate in ecology, invertebrate zoology, aquatic/freshwater ecology, or biology. Demonstrated experience in successfully designing and implementing college-level courses, developing project-based curricula, and conducting research with undergraduate students.

    [b]Physical Requirements:[/b]

    May be required to teach evening or weekend classes (negotiable).
