    [b]Position Summary:[/b]

    A tenure-track, twelve-month position for an Assistant/Associate Professor, Extension Specialist. The person in this position will be responsible for developing a vigorous extension program based upon nationally-recognized research supported by extramural funding in agricultural economics. Areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, farm management, agricultural finance, production economics, agricultural marketing, or agricultural policy. Specifically, the areas of emphasis of this position could include the economics of crop production in the face of increased water competition, the economics of crop diseases and food safety, the economics of industrial organization of the production and processing sectors, and the interaction of agricultural and environmental policies with firm level decision-making. Will develop a productive relationship with stakeholders, and collaborate with UI research and extension faculty located throughout Idaho.

    The research program is expected to be analytically rigorous and synergistic with the extension program, developing original research that leads to publications in appropriate disciplinary and interdisciplinary scholarly journals; will be expected to secure extramural funding to support both extension and research efforts.

    [b]Minimum Qualifications:[/b]

    PhD in Agricultural Economics, Economics or a closely related field is required by start of employment.

    Excellent training in quantitative methods, econometrics, and applied microeconomic theory.

    [b]Preferred Qualifications:[/b]

    Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, and implement an effective extension and outreach program based upon nationally recognized research.

    Potential for or demonstrated ability to develop and implement a nationally recognized research program leading to effective economic problem-solving and scholarly publications in peer reviewed academic journals.

    Knowledge of U.S. agriculture and the issues facing producers and processors.

    Potential for or demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding.

    Experience working in or demonstrated potential to work in disciplinary, multidisciplinary, multi-state and/or integrated interdisciplinary teams.

    Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with stakeholders, including those with diverse cultures and backgrounds.
