    [b]Position Summary:[/b]

    The mission of the Plant Sciences (PS) Department is to conduct focused, comprehensive and integrated research, teaching, and Extension programs, which directly support plant science. The Department of Plant Sciences prepares students for careers in the fields of crop science, plant biotechnology, horticulture and plant breeding. The department works closely with leading industries across the state such as potatoes, wheat, barley, sugar beets and onions. In a fast-changing agricultural industry, Plant Sciences prides itself on staying at the forefront of science. It provides a wide range of curriculum choices in traditional production sciences, and incorporates biotechnology as well as other integrated technologies across multiple disciplines. Students receive both hands-on experience and classroom instruction. This is an academic year appointment and summer salary will be provided.

    [b]Minimum Qualifications:[/b]

    PhD in a closely related discipline.

    Qualifications to meet tenure at the rank of professor in an academic unit within the college.

    Demonstrated excellence and productivity in research (grantsmanship, publications, etc.).

    Experience in nationally peer-reviewed grant administration.

    Demonstrated excellence in teaching or outreach.

    Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate with diverse groups such as faculty, industry personnel, and government officials.

    Understanding of and commitment to program-wide diversity and serving underrepresented stakeholders.

    [b]Preferred Qualifications:[/b]

    Previous administrative experience or evidence of administrative skills required to lead a large academic department.

    Candidates should have a demonstrated work experience in some aspect of plant science.

    Fiscal management skills or experience in administering grants and/or department budgets.

    Leadership skills and experience to implement the University, College, and Department Strategic Plans.
