    Assistant or Associate Professor in Fermentation, Food or Wine Chemistry/Biochemistry

    The Faculty of Land and Food Systems at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada ( is seeking an outstanding candidate for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor within the Food, Nutrition and Health Program. If appropriate, the successful candidate may join the Wine Research Centre and/or receive the Blythe and Violet Eagles Chair in Food Biotechnology. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2018.

    Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant discipline, plus postdoctoral experience or other evidence of scholarly accomplishment. Candidates in all areas of research are encouraged to apply, especially in one of the priority areas of food or wine chemistry/biochemistry, or fermentation science relevant to food and beverages. The faculty hosts a mass spectrometry core facility with three LC/MS and four GC/MS instruments. The successful applicant must also demonstrate strong potential for excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and will be expected to contribute to and complement the current Food Science teaching program. The Faculty of Land and Food Systems espouses student-centered learning to educate a new generation of scientists equipped to solve the most fundamental issues faced by society.

    Successful applicants are expected to establish synergistic research relationships within and between the research groups in the Food, Nutrition and Health Program and the British Columbia food and wine industries.
