    The College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS) at Oregon State University (OSU) is seeking applications for the Department Head of Crop and Soil Sciences (CSS). The Department Head is a recognized national and international leader in crop science, soil science, agronomy, or an allied field and provides visionary and facilitative leadership for all teaching, research, Extension, and outreach programs in the department. They interact effectively with a large and wide-ranging group of faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders in industry groups, public agencies, and private organizations to advance the mission of the department, college, and university. They provide administrative, managerial, fiscal, and scientific leadership; maintain and promote a collaborative and productive environment for faculty, staff, and students; establish and maintain strong ties with stakeholders; advocate effectively for the Department; and must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This position will be 1.00 FTE on a 12-month appointment and reports to the Dean of the CAS.


    CAS and CSS provide a vibrant and welcoming environment that promotes collaborative relationships between faculty, researchers, and students. CSS is located on the main campus of OSU in Corvallis, which is located in the Willamette Valley of western Oregon, 50 miles from the Pacific Ocean, 70 miles from the Cascade Mountains, and 80 miles from Portland. It is a bike-friendly community with excellent schools, farmers’ markets, restaurants, and pubs; easy access to outdoor recreation; and conveniently served by EUG and PDX airports.


    For consideration, applicants must have a doctorate in agronomy, crop science, soil science or related discipline; national/international record of scholarly achievement in research, Extension, instructional and/or service activities within the crop or soil sciences or related disciplines, commensurate with the rank of Professor with tenure; and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
