  • Assistant Professor - Animal Genomics

    The Department of Animal Sciences at Auburn University seeks an Assistant Professor Animal Genomics (tenure-track position) with a a 60% research and 40% instruction appointment. This position carries the expectation for excellence in research productivity, scholarship, teaching, and student mentoring commensurate with the land grant mission at Auburn University. Research priorities for this position will focus on the challenges and opportunities in the production of food animals. The research program should emphasize in high-throughput genome analysis, bioinformatics, gene network analysis and/or genetic modification with applications relating to food animal production, health, and/or disease resistance. The successful candidate will develop and maintain a nationally and internationally recognized, extramurally funded research program involving interdisciplinary collaboration. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with other scientists within, but not limited to, the Colleges of Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, and/or Human Sciences, Alabama Agricultural Experiment Stations, and industry towards development of an animal genomics program. Teach an undergraduate-level foundation course in animal breeding. Departmental, college, and university committee service is expected.

     



    Minimum Qualifications

     

    Requires: 

    (1)           Ph.D. in Animal Science, Genetics, or related field;

    (2)          Documented evidence of individual and/or collaborative research resulting in peer-reviewed publications; and 

    (3)          The selected individual must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
