Research Associate

(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position. Continuation will be dependent on funding, job performance, and continued need for the appointment.)
WORK LOCATION: Department of Entomology, LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Laboratory and field research on the interactions between insects and plants, with an emphasis on insects that affect rice. Duties will include, but are not limited to: direction of field, greenhouse, and laboratory operations, data analysis, collaboration with graduate students in applied and basic research projects, culture of insects and plants, and biochemical analysis of resistance-related traits in plants. This position will also supervise student workers.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree required in entomology or related field. Master’s degree desired. Training and research experience in field crops is desirable. The applicant should have the willingness and ability to conduct field and greenhouse research. Experience in one or more of the following areas are desirable: data analysis, field research techniques, analysis of plant chemicals, insect rearing, greenhouse management, and pesticide application.
