The University of Maryland, Eastern Shore (UMES) is a land-grant, historically black college founded in 1886 as the Delaware Conference Academy.
UMES is located on Maryland’s scenic Lower Eastern Shore, close to ocean beaches and the Chesapeake Bay and two to three hours from the metropolitan areas of Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Norfolk.
