Essential Job Duties
The NCSU Weed Biology and Ecology Laboratory studies how weeds respond to disturbance in agricultural and non-agricultural systems. Our approach focuses on integration of ecological and agricultural principles as well as conventional and innovative weed control tools.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scholar to explore and identify biochemical pathways that can be used to reduce the survival, fitness, and weediness of weed species using new technologies including proteolysis-targeting chimera (PROTAC) and RNAi.
The postdoc will be part of an interdisciplinary group, so the incumbent will have the opportunity to experience how laboratory efforts connect with field conditions and vice-versa. The postdoc will meet frequently with supervisor to discuss best practices in grant writing, manuscript preparation, and mentoring.
The candidate will supervise the work of graduate and undergraduate students and will help to maintain inventories and compliance with university safety regulations. Although the majority of the work will be under laboratory and greenhouse conditions, the postdoc will be expected to participate in field activities with other members of the team.
