Job Summary

The Director of Purdue Agricultural Centers (PACS) provides leadership and overall management of the Purdue Agricultural Research Centers and other college facilities off campus. Supervision of 8 PACS superintendents.


  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Farm Management, Precision Agriculture or related field 
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience (production and/or research agriculture) 
  • Possess knowledge of the 8 Purdue Ag Centers (PACs) across the state of Indiana, Indiana weather and soil conditions, and equipment safety
  • Knowledge of field experimental research techniques, production agriculture (both cropping and animal systems), plot statistics, and applied research across various agricultural fields
  • Ability to supervise and work cooperatively with a broad spectrum of people (scientists, technicians, agricultural leaders, agricultural producers, commercial vendors, sales staff, repair and service technicians and hired labor)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, drive, leadership, and desire to work with agronomic, forestry and horticultural crops and livestock in an applied university research farm environment
  • Ability to responsibly oversee fiscal management of university assets
  • Must possess or be willing to acquire an Indiana commercial pesticide applicator license 
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a business unit environment


  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree
  • Experience working in an academic or research environment with significant responsibility for management functions across a large division, facilitating applied research, and facilities planning Experience in crop, animal and/or timber research
  • Experience in management or coordination of staff and project management
  • Understanding of crop and animal research, working with outside agencies, donors and industry partners
  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) accreditation 
  • Commercial Driver’s License or willingness to acquire
