The Department of Poultry Science at Auburn University seeks applicants with strong written and interpersonal communication skills for the position of Assistant Professor Poultry/Animal Scientist (tenure track): Behavior and Well-being (70% research and 30% instruction appointment.) Apply research skills in poultry/animal behavior and well-being to develop a strong research and instructional program in poultry/animal welfare with a focus on broiler chicken and layer chicken behavior and well-being. Apply ability to independently develop and conduct research and develop and maintain a nationally and internationally recognized, extramurally (government and industry) funded research program on poultry/animal behavior and well-being with an emphasis on broiler behavior and well-being. Collaborate with other scientists within, but not limited to the Colleges of Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine and/or Human Sciences as well as Extension specialists/agents and poultry industry leaders in research on poultry/animal behavior and well-being. Apply teaching know-how, including and ability to mentor graduate students, to teach undergraduate-level foundation courses in General poultry and Layer management/commercial egg production, and graduate-level courses in Applied poultry-animal behavior and Applied ethology.
