Work Location: School of Nutrition and Food Sciences, Baton Rouge, LA. The extension associate will be located in Baton Rouge on the LSU Campus.
Position Description: This position will report administratively to the PI for EFNEP and will work to support the implementation and execution of EFNEP for the LSU AgCenter.
The program manager will provide support to the EFNEP state office and parish faculty and staff implementing educational programs addressing critical needs with an emphasis on nutrition education with limited-resource audiences in accordance with national program guidelines. Travel to conduct parish visits to identify needs and ensure compliance of EFNEP is required. The position will assist EFNEP with training volunteers to effectively assist the programming to enhance community outreach. Additionally, this position will assists with planning, organizing, managing, and implementing the EFNEP statewide. The incumbent will be expected to attend and participate in professional development activities, some of which will require periodic out of state travel. The applicant will work collaboratively with other FCS programs and state office faculty and staff. The successful candidate will be expected to perform other tasks as deemed appropriate to advance strategic initiatives for EFNEP.
Qualification Requirements: B.S. degree required, M.S. preferred in nutrition, family and consumer sciences, health education or related degree. A minimum of two years of experience in project management, including human resource management skills, and prior supervisory and/or experience in cooperative extension in nutrition education and delivery is preferred. Effective human relations skills are required to effectively engage with people from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate should be able to use technology in management and/or delivery of educational programs and messages via social media. The ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form with a variety of audiences is required. This position will occasionally be expected to travel overnight and on weekends.
