Position Description
Texas Tech University (TTU) Department of Plant and Soil Science (Lubbock, Texas), is seeking candidates for a full-time Lecturer in Enology and Brewing Science. The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced knowledge and relevant professional experience in enology and/or brewing science, and formal teaching experience.

Major/Essential Functions
The successful candidate will teach 9 to 12 contact hours of undergraduate courses per semester in support of two degree concentrations: Viticulture and Enology, and Hops and Brewing Science. Course topics include The Science of Wine and Beer, Introduction to Wine Production, Introduction to Wine Production Lab, Winemaking Quality Control and Analysis, and Wines of the World. New courses will be developed in brewing science, beer production, brewing quality control and analysis, and additional fermentation science topics based on programmatic needs and professional background of the Lecturer. Other duties include regular review and updating of courses, holding office hours for students, and contributing to student recruitment efforts.

Required Qualifications
Candidates must possess a M.S. in enology, fermentation science, food science, plant science, horticulture, or a closely related field, and professional experience in wine and/or beer production. Applicants must have formal teaching experience at the college level, and demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate and teach in English. Applicants must have demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public. Must be authorized for employment in the United States.

  • Proven work ethic and ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Self-motivation
  • Valid driver’s license
