Job Summary
This is a two year limited term position and is funded from external sources. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.
The individual in this position will support a multi-state grant project focused on breeding for intercropping systems. The person is expected to take a leadership role in a project involving Oat-Pea intercropping. In addition, he/she will be expected to pursue independent avenues of research and may develop their own projects, within the scope of the lab’s mission.
Essential Functions
Essential Functions include the following:
- Develop or assist in the development of complex project proposals, plans, and protocols.
- Conduct non-routine experiments, investigations and/or studies related to programs and projects in pursuit of new knowledge, techniques and concepts.
- Coordinate or assists logistics of research to include equipment, materials, and labor needs.
- Collect data/samples related to others’ research and in complex cases.
- Record, compiles, process and analyze data/samples.
- Documents results and observations in writing as well as presenting results to others.
- Expected to publish peer-reviewed research articles and to present at conferences.
- Supervise undergraduate research assistant schedules and activities.
- May instruct/advise graduate students and/or supervise others’ research in area of expertise.
- May maintain project budgets and/or coordinate funding.
