Work Location: The position will be primarily located in the School of Plant, Environmental and Soil Sciences (SPESS), LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Position Description: The Louisiana State University Agricultural Center is inviting applications for the position of Research Associate of Weed Science in the School of Plant, Environmental and Soil Sciences. This is a full-time, 12-month grant-funded position with an annual appointment based on availability of funding and satisfactory work performance.
Candidates are sought with the knowledge and expertise to support a research program that advances integrated weed management and incorporates state-of-the art weed management technologies focused on rice. The candidate must communicate with commodity and agricultural industry partners to identify, develop, and implement critical research projects. Collaboration with other AgCenter weed science research and extension faculty is expected.
Qualification Requirements: A B.S. or M.S. in Weed Science or other closely related field of study is required. Good interpersonal skills and leadership abilities are required for working effectively with diverse professional and public audiences and cooperators. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with diverse audiences including scientific peers, clientele, and agribusiness representatives. Assistance with the development of extension and scholarly articles and educational publications is expected.
The ability to multi-task and work in a team environment with research, teaching, and extension faculty representing other disciplines is critical.
