Research Associate
(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position through 12/31/2021. Continuation will be dependent on funding, job performance, and continued need for the appointment.)
Work Location: H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station, Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, Crowley, Louisiana.
Responsibilities: Responsibility of working under the direction of a project leader doing research on rice breeding and genetics. The duties will include field research, as well as some laboratory and greenhouse work. The position will involve data collection, record keeping, and the use of materials and research equipment in the rice breeding project. At busy times of the year, this position will occasionally require working outside the standard Workday to complete time tasks. Occasional travel (1-2x per year) to the winter nursery in Puerto Rico and travel throughout Louisiana to conduct field trials. The position will also include responsibility for supervision of certain personnel.
Qualification Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in plant sciences, agronomy, horticulture, plant pest management, other agricultural curriculums or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Other degree may be accepted with experience or education related to job duties. Computer skills required. Experience with field research or plant breeding is preferred. Demonstrated experience with research field equipment operation and maintenance is highly desired.
