POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Louisiana State University Agricultural Center’s School of Nutrition and Food Sciences (SNFS) seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position at assistant or associate professor level. This is a 12-month appointment with primary responsibilities in Extension 70% and Research 30%.

 

Work Location: School of Nutrition and Food Science, Baton Rouge, LA.

 

Position Description: The primary responsibilities of this position are to lead the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of statewide evidence-based community nutrition programs. This faculty member will maintain and distribute educational materials that are timely and relevant, serve as the primary contact for parish extension faculty delivering general nutrition programs, and provide support to implement nutrition curricula and adapt materials to local needs. The person in this position will respond to inquiries in a timely manner, identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities for parish faculty, while collaborating with state staff to ensure that statewide nutrition education efforts align with strategic goals.  They will foster teamwork between general nutrition and other nutrition education initiatives at the state and parish levels and will collect and compile program activity reports from parish extension faculty. This faculty member will seek external funding to support research and extension programs in nutrition and community health.

 

Qualification Requirements An earned Ph.D. in Nutrition, Public Health, or Community Health is required. The candidate should provide evidence that they can develop an independent, externally funded research program, develop, lead and manage programs that promote the land grant mission of community nutrition education, build collaborations, and report program impact. They should possess excellent organizational skills, demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and be highly effective in a diverse, inter-disciplinary, collaborative, high performing work environment. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to develop and implement curricula appropriate for youth and adult audiences and have experience in needs assessment and evaluation. Experience working with Cooperative Extension or similar outreach programs, a proven track record of securing external funding, a strong publication record, familiarity with evidence-based nutrition curricula and community health strategies, RD Credentials, and experience in faculty development or training coordination is preferred.

 

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
