Work Location: Sugar Research Station, Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, St. Gabriel, Louisiana.
Responsibilities: The person in the position will be an active participant in the LSU Agricultural Center Sugarcane Variety Development Program. Primary responsibilities will be all aspects of the initial stage of the breeding program: parent photoperiod treatment and crossing. The incumbent also will assist in all phases of the Variety Development Program and work closely with personnel in cooperating agencies, including USDA-ARS and the American Sugar Cane League. Applicant should be willing and able to perform physical work outdoors.
Qualification Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in plant sciences or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Other degrees may be accepted with experience or education related to job duties. Knowledge and experience working in an agriculture research setting and computer skills are highly desirable.
