(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position. Continuation will be dependent on funding, job performance, and continued need for the appointment.)
Work Location: School of Nutrition and Food Sciences, LSU Ag Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Responsibilities: The LSU AgCenter SNAP-Ed Program is a grant funded program by the USDA Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education to help limited-income families and youth acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and changed behavior necessary to improve their diets. The State Evaluation Coordinator will have the responsibility of managing and coordinating program evaluation activities for the LSU AgCenter SNAP-Ed program. This position will work closely with the SNAP-Ed Principal Investigator and Program Manager. This position will develop an evaluation plan and a budget proposal every fiscal year and will provide the necessary support to develop quarterly and annual reports.
Key responsibilities include: assess statewide needs and determine evaluation priorities; develop and implement evaluation plans for SNAP-Ed initiatives and interventions funder); assist in program evaluation projects; survey design and monitoring survey administration; data management; data analysis; develop trainings and provide technical assistance. Other duties include: schedule meetings with the State SNAP-Ed team, Extension faculty, and other partners or participants; develop presentations; attend national meetings; participate in evaluation trainings; develop program evaluation activities and materials; and prepare evaluation reports for internal and external audiences. The Extension Associate is expected to perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor(s). Coordination and collaboration with other LSU AgCenter Extension faculty and SU Ag Center staff will be essential. In order to attend and conduct programming to meet the needs of clientele, this position may require overnight travel and work on evenings and weekends.
Essential functions include: Data Management, Data Analysis and Reporting—Serve as an administrator and point of contact for the data management system. Collect and analyze data for evaluation purposes. Propose quantitative or qualitative methodologies to analyze data. Collaborate with the PI and Program Manager on data quality issues and routine problem solving. Coordinate the preparation of quarterly, annual, and other reports as requested by the PI and external stakeholders; Evaluation Development, Design, and Implementation:—Propose evaluation projects; develop, coordinate, and execute evaluation plans; conduct literature reviews; design and revise evaluation instruments; conduct site visits to determine evaluation fidelity; Team Leadership and Training— Serve as key contact for SNAP-Ed evaluation. Coordinate the work of the SNAP-Ed graduate assistant. Attend SNAP-Ed state team meetings and develop trainings for the SNAP-Ed state team and/ or SNAP-Ed parishes, including agents and educators. Keep a record of evaluation training files on team site. Develop presentations. Represent the LSU AgCenter SNAP-Ed program at state, regional or national evaluation workgroups and professional meetings; Project Management—Manage and support SNAP-Ed evaluation projects. Set agenda and conduct weekly evaluation team meetings as appropriate. Prepare a monthly report of evaluation activities. Develop annual management plan and annual operating budget; Travel—Travel to SNAP-Ed parishes to collect data, meet with stakeholders, observe programmatic implementation and evaluation.
Qualification Requirements: A Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health or other qualifying agricultural degree from an accredited university is required. Degrees in other fields that relate to the duties of the position may be considered if combined with directly related experience. This applicant must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work with and through others is essential, as is the ability to function with minimum supervision. Conditions of Employment: A personal automobile and appropriate insurance coverage is required (travel allowance provided). Some work on evenings and weekends should be expected. A cell phone is required.
