Assistant/Associate Professor
(Horticulture Physiologist)

WORK LOCATION: School of Plant, Environmental & Soil Sciences, LSU AgCenter and LSU College of Agriculture, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The School of Plant, Environmental, and Soil Sciences seeks applicants for a 12 month (60% research, 40% teaching), tenure-track position. The successful candidate will develop a nationally recognized research and teaching program focused on the plant physiology and best management practices in the propagation and cultivation of horticultural plants including medicinal plants. Research should address issues of economic importance confronting industry at the basic and applied level in the areas of greenhouse and protected structures. The successful candidate will be expected to work cooperatively across several disciplines including plant physiology, plant pathology, entomology, biological and agricultural engineering, and molecular biology. In addition, this position will be responsible for teaching coursework in plant physiology and greenhouse and controlled environments and other courses that may be needed for LSU undergraduate student education. There may also be an opportunity to develop and teach graduate level courses which will service a wide student population. The person will be responsible for obtaining extramural funding to support their research program and make a strong commitment to advising undergraduate and graduate students. Research results are expected to be published in peer-reviewed journals and trade publications as well as presented at state, regional, and national meetings.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in horticulture or closely related discipline. Willingness to work closely with others and provide undergraduate student advising is required. Some travel is required. Excellent verbal and written communication is required. Evidence of extramural funding and teaching experience are desirable.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
