POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Work Location: Sugar Research Station, LSU AgCenter, St. Gabriel, LA 

Position Description: The primary responsibility in this position will be working with the on-station, off­station, and infield nursery stages of the LSU AgCenter Sugarcane Variety Development program. Activities in this position include planting, harvesting, laboratory analysis of harvested samples and data acquisition. The person in this position is also expected to actively participate in variety advancement activities and preparing an annual report of research activities. The applicant is also expected from time to time to assist the breeder with sugarcane breeding activities. Applicant should be willing and able to perform physical work outdoors. 

Qualification Requirements: A bachelor's degree is required and master's degree preferred in plant sciences, agronomy, plant disease management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Other degrees may be acceptable if combined with sugarcane or other farming experience.
