POSITION AVAILABLE: Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Theriogenology.

The salary range for this position is $174,500 to $325,000. "Off-scale salaries" and other components of pay, i.e., a salary higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS: A PhD and/or DVM degree with advanced research training in reproductive biology is required. A documented record of creative scholarship or potential to develop a research program in reproductive biology is required. Demonstrated aptitude and experience in teaching are required. Preferred qualifications include comparative and small animal reproduction and/or endocrinology expertise. Board certification in or completion of a residency (or equivalent) approved by the American College of Theriogenologists (ACT), the European College of Animal Reproduction (ECAR), or the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) - Animal Reproduction is also preferred. The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere that aligns with the Principles of Community and faculty governance at the University of California, Davis.

This position is aligned with colleagues within the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH). A clinical effort in the VMTH's equine or livestock reproduction services and/or in the provision of consultation on theriogenology cases outside the University is negotiable. For participation in clinical service, a valid license to practice veterinary medicine in California or a University license is required (California Business and Professions Code Section 4846-4857; California Business and Professions Code Section 4848.1).

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching: Responsibilities may include: 1) participation in lectures and laboratories in the DVM professional curriculum; 2) participation in the graduate clinical (resident) training program of the VMTH; 3) participation in the graduate academic programs (MS and PhD) of the campus if applicable, and 4) clinical teaching in the VMTH if a clinical effort is assigned

Research: The position requires the development of a creative, focused, and productive basic and/or clinically-oriented research program in reproductive biology, including publication of results in professional/scientific journals. Appropriate research areas may include comparative reproductive biology, small animal reproduction, reproductive endocrinology, or an aligned field. The successful individual will provide leadership and mentorship in directing research projects for residents and/or graduate students.

Service: Expectations include departmental, university, and public service through committee membership, participating in professional organizations, continuing education, and community outreach as appropriate is required.
