TITLE: Assistant/Associate Professor (Agricultural Production Economics)

LOCATION: Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70803-5604

NATURE OF POSITION: Tenure Track (9 Month). Research: 60%, Extension: 30%, Teaching: 10%

RESPONSIBILITY: This position is a 9-month tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness with joint appointments in the LSU AgCenter and College of Agriculture. Duties will include the evaluation of relevant agricultural production issues and enterprise analysis, publication of economic analyses in appropriate refereed and non-refereed outlets, and presentations to academic groups. Evidence of being a high quality post-secondary teacher-scholar and demonstrated willingness to collaborate within and across disciplines is expected. Extension responsibilities include the dissemination of economic analysis of crop and livestock production and farm management issues faced by producers in Louisiana. The incumbent is expected to employ cutting-edge techniques to develop a nationally recognized extension program and disseminate knowledge through multiple channels including presentations to producer and other clientele groups. Successful acquisition of extramural grant funds to support the research and extension program of this position is expected. Teaching responsibilities will include instruction in the area of production economics, as well as student advising commensurate with the appointment. Participation in departmental and university committees and activities is expected. Cooperation should occur with personnel in the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station, Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, Federal and State government agencies, and relevant commodity groups. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a Ph.D. in agricultural economics or a related field with expertise in the area of production economics and enterprise management. The applicant must also have a strong interest in mission-oriented teaching and extension activities that address critical clientele needs. Effective oral communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with peers and diverse stakeholders are required. Ability to secure extramural funds to help support the research program is expected.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
