Assistant or Associate Professor Cyberbiosecurity
Virginia Tech is accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty position [Assistant or Associate Professor] in cyberbiosecurity, the emerging field at the convergence between cybersecurity and biosecurity as applied to biological systems. This position studies vulnerabilities that may be present at the interface between life sciences, cyber and cyber-physical systems, supply chain, and infrastructure systems, and develops solutions to detect and mitigate such vulnerabilities, with the objective of increasing the resilience of the bioeconomy. This position is a collaboration between College of Agriculture & Life Sciences(CALS) at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI). The successful candidate will develop a nationally and internationally recognized program in cyberbiosecurity through extramurally-funded research and undergraduate and graduate education and assist in building private-public partnerships in cyberbiosecurity. Qualifications include an earned PhD in agricultural and biological engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science information systems, animal sciences or related field. entomology or related discipline.
