WORK LOCATION: Department of Plant Pathology & Crop Physiology, LSU Baton Rouge Campus, Louisiana

POSITION DESCRIPTION: This is a full-time 12-month, tenure-track position with 80% research and 20% teaching appointment focused on etiology and management of sweet potato diseases. The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong and innovative research program of applied research related to managing sweet potato diseases. The candidate is also encouraged to conduct fundamental research in any aspect of plant pathology. Participation in the LSU AgCenter sweet potato breeding and foundation seed programs and National Clean Plant Network-Sweet potato is expected. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated capabilities in managing plant diseases using resistance and/or clean plant programs. The appointee is expected to teach a senior-level course in general plant pathology and contribute to other courses when appropriate. The successful candidate will be expected to serve as a major advisor and on advisory committees for Ph.D. and MS students. Obtaining extramural funding from federal and state agencies, commodity (state and national) research boards, and agro-industries to support the research program will be expected.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A Ph.D. in plant pathology or allied field accompanied by postdoctoral experience in plant pathology. Postdoctoral experience in plant pathology highly desirable.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
