About: We are seeking talented and motivated students interested in pursuing a PhD in the area of digital agriculture and crop modeling. Students will be housed in either the Horticulture and Agronomy or Biosystems Engineering Graduate Groups.
"What is digital agriculture?" – The rapid influx of new data-driven "digital" technologies in agriculture is creating a need for trained professionals and researchers that can harness these exciting tools. These technologies have made us data rich but information poor, as there is a wealth of data available but lack of techniques to translate it into useful information. Models are a critical component of data-driven agricultural science, as they allow us to translate raw data into actionable information.
Several funded PhD positions are available to gain training in this exciting and emerging area. Students will have the opportunity to work under the supervision of worldwide leaders in this area at UC Davis, and collaborate with top agritech industry groups such as DowDupont, Bayer, and the National Grape Research Alliance.
Preferred Qualifications: Prospective students should be self-motivated, critical thinkers, and problem-solvers, with an interest in agricultural technology and modeling.
Application: Please apply via email by sending a short cover letter and resume/CV to Dr. Brian Bailey firstname.lastname@example.org.
