(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment.)
WORK LOCATION: Department of Entomology, LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, La.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Funding is currently available for a research associate in the Soybean Entomology Laboratory at the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center. Responsibilities will include assisting in insecticidal, bacterial, and fungal laboratory, greenhouse, and field assays against soybean and sweetpotato insect pests. Duties also include: collection and analysis of data; preparation of written reports, insect colony care, preparation of insect diet, handling of all insect stages, isolation of genetic material for population analysis, greenhouse plant maintenance, and light clerical work. Applicant will assist in managing undergraduate workers and purchasing lab supplies.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: BS in Entomology or related discipline w/experience in general laboratory procedures. Candidate should have experience with sterile technique, GLP (good laboratory practices), and small plot field research involving insect damage evaluations, insecticide screening, and monitoring of insect populations. Experience with molecular techniques and immunological procedures preferred. Proven ability in diligent documentation, record-keeping, and reporting of experimental data is required.
