Division of the Vice President Academic
The Division of the Vice President Academic champions academic quality at RMIT Vietnam through a range of academic oversight and support functions. The Division includes the student-facing areas of the RMIT Vietnam Library, Student Academic Success and the Research Office, as well as Learning & Teaching, Learning Technologies, and the Office of the Vice President Academic. Together, these areas provide a comprehensive network of services for staff and students, helping to promote educational best practice and ensure that RMIT Vietnam students’ experience is consistently transformative.

Research Office
The RMIT Vietnam Research Office promotes excellence in research practice among the University’s staff and students. Through regular training sessions, colloquia and one-on-one support, the Research Office team helps RMIT researchers access information about standards and opportunities to enhance their careers, compete for research projects, and build national and international research networks. The Research Office facilitates activities to highlight research success, such as the 3-Minute Thesis competition, and collaborates with academic leaders to foster productive research activities throughout the University.

The role & key responsibilities
The Research Fellow will work with research teams and partnerships in the School and Research Institutes. The Research Fellow is required to undertake research activities in line with the University’s research strategy. The position will carry out independent and/or team research which has a significant impact in the area of their specialisation and be acknowledged at a national level as being influential in expanding the knowledge of their relevant discipline.

The Research Fellow’s role is primarily to plan, develop and engage in high quality research projects that are aligned with the University’s research focus areas. The Research Fellow will embed their research expertise into the life of the School through the development of high-quality, productivity-driven research networks across RMIT and with local and national, internal and external partners. Research Fellows will be expected to engage in high quality research projects, to achieve success in attracting research funding and to produce high quality outputs.

This role will support RMIT’s involvement in the EU-funded project related to environmental study and water and natural resources management.

Key selection criteria
PhD or equivalent in relevant field
Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs
Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates
Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS 7.0 (or equivalent).
