Description: This is a 9-month tenure-track position that is 70% research and 30% Extension within the Department of Animal Sciences and the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University. 

Responsibilities: The Department of Animal Sciences is seeking an individual whose work focuses on precision dairy nutrition. The ideal candidate will establish an extramurally funded research program that supports the economic and environmental sustainability of dairy farming. The areas of interest include, but not limited to, forages, mineral and vitamin utilization, the interactions of nutrition and animal well-being and health management, optimization of nutrition to minimize environmental impacts of dairy production, approaches to determining nutrient requirements, developing methods for assessment of feed quality, and economics of feed sources.

The successful candidate will work in cross-disciplinary teams to build on a culture of academic collaboration and be expected to maintain an integrated research program that is extramurally funded and nationally recognized. The successful candidate will also engage in Extension and outreach education to disseminate research-based knowledge to various stakeholders of the greater community. Additional responsibilities include the training and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and staff research associates. All faculty are expected to be supportive of and engaged in all three mission areas of the Land Grant Institution (Research, Teaching, and Extension). Faculty members have a shared responsibility to support and sustain the CFAES Principles of Community, convey good citizenship, and interact collegially.

Location: This position will be located on the CFAES Wooster Campus, which is located in northeastern Ohio approximately 50 mi (80 km) SSW of Cleveland and 35 mi (56 km) SW of Akron.

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications:  Applicants are required to have an earned doctorate in dairy or animal science, dairy nutrition, or a closely allied discipline. Documented evidence of individual and/or collaborative research and teaching efforts in animal or dairy sciences is desired. Experience developing or working in interdisciplinary research teams and working with and mentoring members of underrepresented groups is preferred. Applicants must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Applicants at the rank of Associate Professor should have demonstrated research productivity and evidence of an independently funded research program, as well as experience working with interdisciplinary research teams.
