The Department of BSPM at Colorado State University (CSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor faculty position in Horticultural Entomology. We seek applications from dynamic and motivated scientists who have expertise in entomology and a strong research record. Candidates are sought with demonstrated capacity to integrate new technologies with classical field-and laboratory-based approaches in their research program. The successful applicant will be expected to build a nationally and internationally recognized research program that integrates modern and conventional methods to study and reduce pest arthropods and encourage beneficial arthropods on plants in horticultural production and urban landscapes. Potential research topics include, but are not limited to, integrated pest management, biological control, and pest ecology. CSU’s College of Agricultural Sciences has critical research mass in the areas of Ag Tech, microbiomes, data science, and soil health. Being interdisciplinary in nature, BSPM values cooperative and collaborative efforts with other units within the University, as well as relevant external entities in Colorado and beyond. Excellent opportunities exist for working with diverse stakeholders in the State on a wide variety of pest arthropods, including through cooperation with CSU Extension field staff, the CSU Agricultural Experiment Station, and the National Western Center.

The successful candidate will teach the undergraduate class Horticultural Entomology and a graduate level course in the candidate’s area of expertise. Graduate student training, undergraduate advising and mentoring, and contributions to engagement and service, including the Master Gardener program, are expected.

Required Job Qualifications
A Ph.D. in entomology or a related field (completed by application deadline).
A strong record of scholarly achievement commensurate with experience.
Effective communication skills, with an emphasis on presenting and disseminating research information.
Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity.
Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.

Preferred Job Qualifications
Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
Demonstrated potential for engagement with stakeholders to identify and respond to their entomological issues, utilizing both traditional and innovative methods.
Evidence of clear potential or previous success in obtaining competitive research grant funding.
Post-doctoral (or equivalent) research experience in entomology.
