The incumbent monitors progress of research projects and coordinates information between department sections. He/she assists with and conducts laboratory experiments on research projects within well-defined guidelines.

- Ability to follow standard protocols or determine protocols to be used, based on the guidelines of the principal investigator

Essential Job Functions
- Develops protocols and guidelines for the application of portable diagnosis tools for onsite pest identification
- Conducts laboratory and applied research in collaboration with Extension that addresses state and local needs
- Maintains the materials generated by the project
- Assists with the collection of data, evaluation, and reports
- Assists with grant writing, and budgeting, and provides input in the development of educational programs
- Prepares extension outreach materials like fact sheets, trifolds, brochures, etc. for disseminating information to the limited resources farmers
- Mentors graduate/undergraduate students, lab technicians, and student workers
- Visits and travels to state events, as needed

Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science, Molecular Biology, Plant Pathology, or a closely related field. Priority given to MS degree holders with laboratory experience on molecular tools Minimum Experience Hands-on experience in basic molecular techniques and fundamentals of plant pathology
|
