The Chair shall provide innovative leadership to build upon the excellent research and educational activities within the department. The primary responsibilities of the position include: academic leadership; fund raising; enhancement of relations with alumni, government and industrial partners; student recruitment, retention, enrollment growth, curriculum planning and administrative oversight and direction. The Chairperson reports directly to the Dean, the chief administrative officer for the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The applicant should possess outstanding administrative abilities and a strong record of professional accomplishments in teaching, research or cooperative extension, and public service. In addition, the candidate should possess effective interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate must have an appreciation of the land-grant philosophy.
