POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Work Location:  4-H Youth Development, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

 

Job Description:  The major responsibility of this position is to provide statewide leadership for the 4- H Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Program using research-based delivery strategies that engage diverse youth audiences. Provide statewide leadership for programming in the areas of STEM and environmental education as supported by volunteers and staff that assist in carrying out this program. Engage youth in applying their technical and scientific skills as tools to enhance their education, career opportunities and contributions to their communities. Foster new partnerships and collaborate with university, industry, non-profit agencies and other science-related organizations to support cutting edge science programming state-wide and nation­wide. Develop and publish research-based program materials and program impact materials, both internally and externally. Continual evaluation of the impact of Extension program is required. The position will also serve as the primary contact, trainer, and manager for 4HOnline, the Louisiana 4-H online management system.  This will include conducting necessary training as well as online, email, and phone support when necessary.  Pursue and obtain grant funding and develop entrepreneurial approaches to partially support program activities. Participate in professional development experiences and seminars.

 

Qualification Requirements:  Master's (PhD desired) degree in youth development, science and technology education, or related field is required. Success and experience in teaching and working with youth organizations is strongly preferred. Course work in educational methods and applied science. Desire demonstrated success working with university research communities and acquiring resources for youth development research and/or programs. Demonstrated competence in methods of non-formal youth development curriculum design and program delivery is also highly desirable.
