The University of Kentucky is seeking candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Agricultural and/or Public Communications in the Department of Community and Leadership Development. This is a 12-month position with a distribution of effort of teaching (50%), research (45%) and service (5%) expectations. Faculty assignments and DOE are subject to annual negotiation between the chair and faculty member.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an active research program focusing on the agricultural and/or public communications in community and leadership development (e.g., community news organizations; community change and advocacy; nonprofit, voluntary, and/or political organizations; civic and community engagement; civic or citizen journalism; communication campaigns; health, science, environmental, and/or risk communications), with external funding support. The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for, or have a proven record, in scholarly activity, including publication in peer-reviewed journals.
The successful candidate will teach a combination of four undergraduate/graduate courses a year in communication; recruit, advise, mentor, and evaluate undergraduate and graduate students; collaborate with stakeholder groups; and provide service to the department, college, university, and professional organizations.
The Department of Community and Leadership Development is a multidisciplinary department of faculty recognized internationally in a variety of social science disciplines. The department offers undergraduate degrees both in Community and Leadership Development and in Agricultural Education. At the graduate level, the department offers an MS degree in Community and Leadership Development, with an option for a Masters in Teacher Certification.
