Assistant Professor – Research

(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position. Continuation will be dependent on funding, job performance, and continued need for the appointment.)

Rank and Nature of Position: Assistant Professor – Research (non-tenure track): Inland Soil & Water Policy and Coastal Restoration Economics.

Work Location: Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, Center for Natural Resource Economics & Policy, Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Responsibilities: This is an Assistant Professor position (100% Research: Non-tenure Track) in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (DAEA) located on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. This is a grant-funded position that is jointly supported by DAEA faculty working in the Center for Natural Resource Economics and Policy (CNREP). The incumbent will work in support of currently-funded projects in the area of inland soil & water policy and coastal restoration economics. Duties will include collection and assessment of primary and secondary data; application of statistical and econometric methods; development of peer-reviewed publications; presentation of analytical findings; and participation in research proposals and projects related to Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico region. The initial appointment for this position is 24 months with the possibility of extending the appointment beyond two years, depending on the availability of external funds.

Qualification Requirements: Applicants will have completed a PhD in Agricultural Economics or a related field at the time of submission (required) and have two years of post-graduate research experience (preferred). Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated record of publishing and an established record of applied research in support of state and federal natural resource management initiatives. A strong analytical background in natural resources conservation and restoration is required.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
