ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – POULTRY MANAGEMENT
The Department of Animal and Avian Sciences in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Maryland, College Park is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor for a Tenure-Track Faculty position with a 9 month academic appointment in Poultry Management, (position #126735.) This position has a 70% Extension/15% Research/15% Teaching appointment.
Responsibilities: The Department of Animal and Avian Sciences is seeking an individual to provide leadership in Extension activities and applied research to benefit the poultry industry in Maryland, which is the largest agricultural industry in the State. The successful candidate will be expected to substantially contribute to Extension efforts in the State and to work closely with the poultry industry and Extension agents. The candidate will be expected to maintain an extramurally funded Extension and applied research program, and will have ample opportunities for intra-departmental collaboration with ANSC faculty members (http://www.ansc.umd.edu/people/faculty). The applied research program is open to any discipline within poultry science, including nutrition, health, management, welfare, genetics and physiology. Poultry facilities to support an applied research program are operated by the Department and by the Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station (https://ansc.umd.edu/research/research-centers). Teaching responsibilities include instruction of Commercial Poultry Management at the undergraduate level, every other year, and the training and mentoring of graduate students. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include a doctorate in Poultry Science or a related discipline and experience with Extension and applied aspects of poultry science. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated success in Extension programing and clear prospects for extramural funding.
Salary & Benefits: The University offers a comprehensive benefits package. The position is a full time 9-month academic year appointment. The opportunity exists to supplement salary through summer salary support from extramural funding.
