Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Animal Science at Iowa State University seeks a postdoctoral researcher with a background in poultry nutrition and immunology. Primary responsibilities include being an active member of a research and teaching team consisting of a faculty principal investigator, current and future graduate and undergraduate students and associated professional and scientific staff member(s). This varied position will contribute to the research and teaching missions of the Land Grant University. Research: Species: Poultry, including broiler, layer, and turkey. May include mouse models as needed. Duties would include but are not limited to experimental design, IACUC approval acquisition, data collection, statistical analysis, product creation and delivery to stakeholders. PI has USDA and private funding for poultry work related to immunology, disease, microbiome, gut physiology, performance, meat quality, and welfare. The Post-doc would support and lead studies within these areas. The PI is looking to develop poultry gastrointestinal tract models as well as cell culture models in addition to whole animal work. Teaching: Assist with a sophomore level poultry science course, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
Service: Mentoring and training undergraduate and graduate students, as well as serving the professional animal science and poultry societies.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Animal Science with a focus in poultry nutrition, immunology, or closely related fields within poultry.
