Work Location: H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station, LSU AgCenter, Crowley, LA
Position Description: Responsibility of working under the direction of a project leader doing research on rice disease control. The duties will include field research, as well as some laboratory and greenhouse work. The position will involve data collection, record keeping, and the use of materials and research equipment, including drones, tractors, and other agriculture equipment. The research associate will also be responsible for the general maintenance of the rice experiments, including weed and pest control, and fertilization. The position includes responsibility for the supervision of certain personnel and cooperation with other projects.
Qualification Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in plant sciences, agronomy, plant disease management, plant pest management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Other degrees may be accepted with experience or education related to job duties. Computer skills are required. Applicants must have a driver’s license and pesticide application certification by the first three months of work. FFA drone pilot certification is desirable.
