The Departments of Biosystems Engineering and Poultry Science at Auburn University are seeking a Master’s student that is interested in precision animal management (PAM). This a cooperative position between the departments and Auburn’s National Poultry Technology Center (NPTC). The student will be supervised by faculty in Biosystems Engineering and Poultry Science. Students with an earned B.S. in agricultural engineering, agricultural technology, poultry science, animal science, or a related field are encouraged to apply.
The student will engage in applied research that addresses housing management challenges in commercial poultry production. Specifically, the student will use video and image processing techniques to evaluate the effects of thermal conditions on broiler behavior. With the help of graduate advisors and a committee, the student will be trained to conduct research and produce research deliverables, i.e., academic posters, conference presentations, and journal articles.
