Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and forward-looking leader to serve as the dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The next dean of the college will be passionate about making a difference, dedicated to excellence, and eager to join a vibrant community of scholars and change-makers. The new dean will join a college that is a catalyst for progress, a platform for individuals with the vision and drive to shape the future of agriculture and life sciences, and the embodiment of the land-grant philosophy and mission of Virginia Tech in all its diverse teaching, research, extension, development, international, and service and outreach activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Earned doctorate and a distinguished record of scholarly activity that would qualify for the rank of professor.

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in collaboration with many constituencies.

Demonstrated successful leadership in higher education or of a complex agricultural/life sciences enterprise.

Experience in leading or managing a major research program.

Commitment to the mission of a land grant university.

Demonstrated effectiveness in planning, administration, and personnel and fiscal management.
