Work Location: School of Plant, Environmental, and Soil Sciences, Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Responsibilities: The Sugarcane Genetics Laboratory of the School of Plant, Environmental, and Soil Sciences is seeking a seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate (RA). The RA will conduct research integrating molecular/quantitative genetics and genomics approaches with multitude of phenotypic and NGS data generated with germplasm resources within the breeding program to identify casual variants (and target genes) for various agronomic traits. The overarching goal is to develop trait markers for use in marker-assisted breeding, and deploy genome-editing strategies to create desirable mutation.
Qualification Requirements: Candidates with a Ph. D. in molecular/quantitative genetics, molecular biology or related fields are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have documented experience in quantitative genetics, statistical genomics and/or gene editing. Candidates with prior working experience in polyploid crops will be given preference. The candidate should be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
