This is a grant funded, non-tenure track position located at the LSU AgCenter in Baton Rouge, La. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment.
Work Location: Department of Plant Pathology and Crop Physiology, LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, La.
Job Responsibilities: The successful applicant will assist with faculty research projects in plant physiology. Coordination of field, greenhouse and laboratory research related to photosynthesis and photorespiration. Duties will include the design, build, and test cycle transgenic plants for improved photosynthetic traits as well as plant experiments in diurnal, seasonal and stress related changes to the photorespiration process. The position includes establishing, monitoring, and maintaining field experiments, as well as data collection, record keeping and used of research equipment. At busy times of the year, this position will occasionally require research outside of standard working hours. Travel to field sites as well as travel to scientific meetings is required.
Qualification Requirements: Candidates must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in biological sciences, plant physiology, or related field. Strong experience in plant genetics, photosynthesis research and/ or field research is preferred. Previous experience in the supervision of undergraduate students is highly desirable. Candidates must have strong written and oral communication skills.
