Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor and Extension Nutrition Specialist position in the agency’s Food and Nutrition unit which is located in the Department of Nutrition. The selected candidate will: (1) work with Extension Agents and faculty from diverse disciplines to identify, develop, and evaluate science-based education programs that promote health and address diet-related conditions such as dementia/Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and heart disease; (2) develop and deliver educational programs to the general public, health professionals, Extension professionals and volunteers and other audiences via face-to-face as well as through the use of distance/online technologies; (3) provide health and nutrition expertise, support, and training to County Extension Educators throughout the state through structured face-to-face and/or online professional development sessions that target specific competency and experience levels; (4) monitor and communicate current and emerging food and nutrition trends to Extension educators; (5) work collaboratively with state and federal agencies, other universities, industry, and other organizations to expand his/her program reach; and (6) secure funding to support his/her program development and research as well as publish and present scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals and at professional meetings.
Qualifications: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree; at least one degree must be in nutrition. Registered Dietitian is preferred. Applications should have (1) demonstrated ability or potential to obtain external funding; (2) knowledge and experience in developing and/or utilizing best-practice programs aimed at addressing nutrition-related chronic diseases; and (3) an ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary initiatives and with colleagues from diverse subject matter disciplines. The ability to use distance education for the development and delivery of education programs is highly desirable.
Salary and Appointment: This is a full-time, 12-month non-tenure track appointment based in College Station, Texas on the campus of Texas A&M University. The salary will commensurate with experience.
