  • Assistant Professor of Agricultural & Resource Economics- Nursery/Greenhouse/Specialty Crops

    Responsibilities:
    • Develop and deliver a nationally recognized statewide integrated Extension and research program focused on nursery, greenhouse, and specialty crops. Research/Extension topics could also include commercial horticulture, ornamentals, fruits, vegetables, commercial urban agriculture, and turfgrass
    • Acquire extramural funding to support, develop, and deliver research and Extension programs
    • Publish in high quality disciplinary and multi-disciplinary journals and other appropriate outlets including peer reviewed Extension publications
    • Work with UTIA faculty, including multi-disciplinary teams, county Extension agents, area Extension specialists and other UT personnel
    • Use traditional and innovative tools to educate a diverse audience including county Extension agents, area Extension specialists, state and federal agencies, state industry and producer groups
    • Mentor and supervise graduate and undergraduate students
    • Provide leadership to state level 4-H programs as appropriate
    • Participate in the service activities of the Department, Institute, University, and profession

    Qualifications: Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics or closely related field. The successful candidate will have excellent research, teaching, communication and quantitative skills and a willingness to work in multi-disciplinary teams. In-depth knowledge and understanding of the nursery and greenhouse industry are desired.

    Salary: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
